Poems

I am the Black Death

I whisk you away upon a cloud

You dance on it free and proud

You were so happy and adamant

You stutter that you love me which was only an accident

You should stay the night, no I should stay the night, no both

We’ll meet once a week — it’ll be “our day”

No, wait, let’s choose a day out of the month

Come on vacation with my family, this is agony because we met two months ago

Watch your step

I see you falling deep for me but really you’re just… falling

I won’t be there to catch you because you’re too attached you…

You… are head over heels while I’m just kicking back and starting to relax

You say you feel the the moon, the world, the stars, but I feel not even a spark

I am the Black Death

Watch me as I sweep over and tear out your heart

I really don’t mean to, no matter how this ends, I will always be the Black Death

No matter how justified the end is, I will always be the one in the wrong

Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons? I am the Breaker of Hearts, Mother of Despair

I am what keeps you awake at night tossing and turning

I am the one who ends things without a second thought

I really don’t mean to hurt you

It isn’t my intention to crush you

I don’t plan things but they happen

Things come to an end, and like the Black Death, it is my nature

I realize that you might resent me, but please go on and be happy
