The Battle Weary Vessel

How gleaming its sails stand simply to protect thee.

And although it tends to forget me

Its journey remains to the truest destination.

This vessel glides over a slick curtain within a rounded space.

Clouds accumulate during its journey, threatening to corrupt her soul,

She shall remain true flying her colors and taking the toll.

As plights plague her, this vessel be painted by a land brave and free.

And while some say her red, white, and blue be the words of a tainted past

Others would pipe up that those be words of a sloth and of a coward,

For the bleat of a citizen shows no confidence to her name.

Lack of faith shall not restore her great frame,

And the answer be not for one to point the blame.

But perhaps if all were to crowd her bow and raise her colors high and proud

They shall see that union and endurance will replace this battle hardened vessel.

  • This is a metaphorical poem pertaining to the U.S. It targets how most citizens point out who's to blame for current issues and how maybe, just maybe if we stood together to take care of it instead of complaining, we could change our country for the better.
